Rowing Murph!

Let’s ROW!

Let’s ROW!

SATURDAY - MAY 22nd at Catalyst Rowing Fitness
TIME:
8:15 or 10am start for Guests with Pre-registr.
Members can start at 7 or 8:15am with your usual class attendance.

Overview: The Murph is a traditional Memorial Day workout with military roots - dedicated to Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. The true “Murph” includes a slightly different lineup, but as we count down to Memorial Day Weekend, we’re putting a rowing spin of our own on this crowd-pleasing, service-honoring, grueling workout!

The Workout:
2,000m Row
300 Air Squats (wt optional)
200 Sit-ups (or modification of choice)
100 Burpees, Pushups or Bent-Over Rows (mod of choice)
2,000m Row

The main goal is to finish and enjoy fellowship, but we will track/record total elapsed time as well as time/splits for ea. 2k row.

TO PARTICIPATE:

Guests / Non-Members: Email US with the subject line ROWING MURPH to RSVP. Suggested donation of $20/head for guests, with proceeds benefitting the “A Most Beautiful Thing Inclusion Fund” to help expand rowing in under-resourced communities. Donation payable upon check-in on the 22nd (cash or CC accepted).

Current Members: Register for your usual Saturday AM class time, and email us if you want to go with the late start.

POSTPONED!! Half-Marathon Row Day!

POSTPONED!! Rowing HALF-MARATHON!

(yes, you can! Just go 1 meter at a time!)

(yes, you can! Just go 1 meter at a time!)

WE ARE POSTPONING THIS EVENT UNTIL WE CAN GET MORE ROWERS ON BOARD TO TEAM UP OR SOLO THEIR WAY THRU THE 21L METERS! STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS ON A RESCHEDULE - AND THANK YOU!

Originally: SATURDAY - MAY 15th at Catalyst Rowing Fitness

NOW: Date TBD, so STAY TUNED

TIME: Start at 7am with your usual class attendance OR choose 8:15am OR 10:00AM Launch

Overview: Row the 21,097 Meters HALF MARATHON distance in connection with Concept2’s Marathon and Century Challenge! Go for a solo or tandem completion of the meters with a buddy! Start your row during your usual morning class attendance or begin at 8:15AM. Catalyst will provide - Music, beverages, rowers, encouragement. Option to row outside if weather permits, otherwise - we’ll be inside the studio where masks will be required by all participants, but the air will be COOL.

TO PARTICIPATE — PLEASE STAND BY FOR DETAILS ON RESCHEDULE:

Guests / Non-Members: Email US with the subject line MAY 15 HALF MARATH. And let us know you intend to row, either as a solo or tandem team. Include contact info for all team members. We will reply with a request for full info and waiver completion. COST: FREE, please be welcome as our Guest!

Current Members: Email US with your intention to row the Half, including team member info if rowing as a tandem. Then - sign up for either 7am class or 8:15am class, depending upon your preferred start time. You must do both so we know you want to complete the Half! Thanks!

DETAILS: This is an unprecendented meter-goal for previous Catalyst classes or events, so the goal is to FINISH SUCCESSFULLY rather than set any blistering records. (Trust us, blisters may already be a factor!) Consider these reference points:
—Rowing at a 2:45 split pace, a half-marathon means nearly two hours of continuous rowing.
—Rowing at a 2:25 split with a few water/fuel/stretch breaks will also mean about 2 hrs of rowing total. —Rowing a 2:15 split continuously means about 1hr 35 min of work w/o pauses.
Again, the goal is to finish - either as a solo or splitting the meters between yourself and a buddy.

TO “GET ‘ER DONE”
You can set your rower up in any number of configurations, including:
—Single distance: 21,097 meters
—Two Intervals (or 1 ea. w/ a buddy): 10,549 meters / Unspecified rest between
—Four Intervals - 5,275 meters ea / Unspecified rest between, etc.
